A perfect itinerary for people who enjoy hiking, exploring traditional villages and discover the historical and cultural aspects of Iran. This 11-days itinerary will bring you to places where you will commence amazing hikes with breath-taking scenery along the way. Discover the mosques, bazaars and World Heritage Sites in some of the bigger cities in Iran in combination with a diverse landscape of both high mountains and strangely formed canyons.

Suggested Itinerary

Day 1: Tehran

Upon arrival in Tehran, the capital of Iran, you will be transferred to your hotel. This city only is already home to 8 million people, making it the most populous city in Western Asia. It is home to the Golestan Palace complex with a marble throne which is referred to as the seat of power of the Qajar dynasty. In the afternoon, a city tour is planned covering all the highlights.

Day 2: Tehran - Kerman

Today, you will get the opportunity to visit the city or Kerman including the Ganj Ali Khan complex, moshtag Alishah temple, the bazaar, Friday mosque and the music museum. At the bazaar, you will have some free time to walk around and explore.

Day 3: Kerman – Regeh Canyon

Rise early and head to the Regeh Canyon which will take about 2 hours from Kerman. The trek along this canyon is about 5-6 hours walk into one direction. At the end of this trail, you will be picked up after which you will be brought back to Kerman. This canyon has recently been discovered and is a stunning valley.

Day 4: Kalut Desert

Today, a 75 min drive from Kerman to the village of Shafi Abad awaits you, taken you through beautiful scenery while going past the Sardkouh mountain on a height of 2890m above sea level and down to the desert with a height of 325m above sea level. From here, it will take 20 min by car to get to the Kalut desert where the first day of a trekking in the desert begins to see this incredible erosion shapes. It would be at least a 10km hike on rocks and sand dunes, enjoying the view. Additionally, you will experience the sunset in the desert as you will stay in the village of Shafi Abad.

Day 5: Kalut Desert

Your second day in the Kalut desert includes a 20 min drive back to the road of the desert and you will start your hike at a new spot from where you can explore the desert a bit further and witness its wonders.

Day 6: Kalut Desert - Mahan

Drive from the village of Shafi Abad, to Mahan where you will visit the marvellous Prince garden which has been recognized as a World Heritage Site. On your way to Mahan, you will visit the Chehel zarei village popular for its mountain climbers as it is a start point of their trek in Sard Kouh. Here, you will have a comfortable trek toward Sardkouh of 1 hour each way.

Day 7: Mahan – Rayen

In the morning, visit the tomb of Shah Nemat Allah Vali. Continue onwards from Mahan to Rayen, located at the foot of Hezar Mountain. Visit its castle dating back to the Parthian Empire. Also, visit the water fall in its surroundings and have a comfortable trek towards the first camp which takes 2 hours each way. Return to Rayen afterwards to have you overnight stay.

Day 8: Rayen – Bam

Rise early and drive 20 min to explore the Ghale Hasan Ali village. Here, your hike towards one of the most impressive volcanos of Iran, known as Kal Namaki, will start. It will take approximately 1.5 hours each way. Afterwards, drive in 2 hours to Bam where you will visit the ancient citadel which is one of Bam’s World Heritage sites.

Day 9: Bam – Ghale Ganj

Today, a short visit to the palm gardens of Bam are planned before heading toward Ghale Ganj County. Once you have arrived at Doulab, your trek towards Dhale Ganj tent hotel will start, taking about an hour.

Day 10: Ghale Ganj - Bandar-e Abbas

Drive from the Ghale Ganj tent hotel toward Bandar-e Abbas and visit its historical buildings including the Gandahari mosque and bath, Indian temple, daily market and take a stroll through the Sayyad street known for its Iranian food court.

Day 11: Bandar-e Abbas - Qeshm

Today, you will drive from Bandar-e Pol in an hour from where you will take the ferry to Laft barbor and drive to the city of Qeshm. Along the way, you will have a stop and visit the Chah Kouh canyon which is popular for its unique natural shapes of mountain and ground. This 45-minute hike is beautiful as you are exposed to different types of mountain and plants.

Day 12: Qeshm

It will only take 20 minutes to go from Qeshm to the village of Berkeh Khalaf from where you will commence your trek and explore the mesmerizing natural site of the Stars valley. It will take about an hour to trek in the valley, but you have the possibility to continue from another spot along the gulf which may be interesting for people who’d like to spot some turtles.

Day 13: Qeshm – Hormuz

Enjoy a day trip to the Hormuz island which is very popular for its colourful land. Enjoy hiking on this marvellous island at your own leisure.

Day 14: Qeshm – Tehran Departure

Spend the morning in Qeshm at your own leisure or visit the Naz beach after which you will fly back to Tehran where you will be transferred to the international airport where you will say goodbye to Iran and fly back home.
