Suggested Itinerary

Day 1 Uzbek border – Osh

Upon arrival at the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border, you will be met by your guide which will take you for a stroll through the city of Osh where you will visit the most famous place – Suleiman Mountain.

The Suleiman Mountain is situated in the center of the city and it is said that it’s a pilgrimage place for local Muslims. According to the myth, the biblical prophet Solomon (Suleiman in the Koran) was buried at the foot of it.

Osh is located at an altitude of 750m above sea level and the city tour will start with a visit to the Victory Square after which you will continue onwards to the Oak Park, Central Ala-Too Square, the History museum, National Philharmonic among other sightseeing places. Today, you will have lunch in a local restaurant where you can try the original Kyrgyz food. After enjoying your lunch, you will continue the city tour by visiting the Asian Bazaar which was opened in the Soviet Union times and reconstructed in 2001. Afterwards, you will be brought back to your hotel for a rest before heading to one of the best local restaurant where your dinner will be served.

Day 2 Osh - Arslanbob (220km)

Today, you will head to Arslanbob where you will pay a visit to the walnut forest. This forest produces 1500 tons of walnuts per year and is the largest single natural source of walnuts in the world.

It will take about 6 hours to get you there and there will be a stop along the way showing you the Djalal Abad town and its famous Uzgen tower. This tower was built in the 11th century by Karakhanids and has mausoleums in the surrounding where the leaders of that time were buried.

You will spend the night at a local home stay.

Day 3 Arslanbob - Chychkan (330km)

In the morning, you will head to the calming setting of the Chychkan gorge. Along the way, you will be able to enjoy the stunning view of the mountain gorges and visit the nomadic families living there. There are many nomads around here still living in traditional yurts which are made out of wool and wooden sticks, without using a single nail. In summer time, it is very pleasant to live in there and even in winter, they are surprisingly warm. The nomads are trekking to the high mountains during summer to breed their cattle and are very hospitable as this is one of the highest laws of the nomads. You will have your overnight stay in a guesthouse.

Day 4 Chychkan-Kyzyl oi (190km)

Today, you will head out to the Kyzyl Oi Village. This route takes you onto roads that wind along incredible gorges, providing you with breathtaking views of the impressive mountains and gorges. Kyrgyzstan is a real paradise for people that are in love with mountains and unusual cultures as 93% of the country is mountainous with nomadic life in remote places. Upon arrival at the village, you will get the chance to see how the nomads are living in this region. You will have your dinner and overnight stay in this village, also seen as a very remote village adding on to your experience.

Day 5 Kyzyl oi-Kyzyl korgon-Kochkor (210km)

In the morning, you will be taken to the amazing Kyzyl Korgon – the gorge of Red Rocks! Here, you will be able to do some magnificent climbs, thrilling descents and enjoy some unforgettable views. Afterwards, you will continue into the direction of the Kochkor village with a short stop at the famous Kochkor cave. Upon arrival in Kochkor, there will be a visit at a small family museum where you will participate in the production of a carpet. The day ends with dinner served at your local house where you will also have your overnight stay.

Day 6 Kochkor - Son kul - Kochkor (280km)

After breakfast, you will head to the second largest lake in Krygyzstan – Son Kul Lake. It is one of the highest alpine lakes in Kyrgyzstan as it is situated at an altitude of 3013 meters above sea level and is surrounded by mountains. This was the typical spot for Kyrgyz nomads to come to with their families for rest and relaxation. Additionally, Herders of the Naryn region come to the lake to use it as a pastureland.

After your arrival, you will be free to explore and enjoy the virgin nature of the lake and its surroundings. Your dinner will be served in nomadic collapsible dwellings (yurts) where you will also have your overnight stay.

Day 7 Kochkor-Issik kul-Bishkek (310km)

Today you will drive to Bishkek city with a couple of stops along the way including the Burana Tower, a minaret dating back from the 11th century. Burana Tower was used during the Great Silk Road as a sign for travelers that there was a city to have a rest. Nearby you will see an open air museum of Balbans (stone warriors). These grave stones that look like warriors were made in honor of brave soldiers that died for their Motherland. After an interesting excursion and a short climb to the top of the tower, you will continue onwards to the Kyrgyz capital where you will have a traditional dinner and an overnight stay at a hotel.
