Meet your guide at the airport and travel together to your hotel for check-in. During your drive your guide will provide an introduction to Kathmandu, answer your questions and discuss plans for the following day.
Late afternoon enjoy a walking Heritage tour of Kathmandu’s old bazaars, Hanuman Dhoka and Durbar Square. The labyrinth of backstreets and alleys leading from one bazaar to another are pure theatre. We thus emerge into the pulsating Durbar Square and to Hanuman Dokha, the royal palace for 200 years. We return for dinner taking the rickshaws.
Kathmandu is by far Nepal’s largest and most diverse city, a genuine melting pot of ethnicities and cultures and a haven for travellers since its rise to popularity as part of the ‘hippie trail’ in the 60s and 70s. Once described as having more temples than houses, this exhilarating and complex capital is rapidly changing, but the half-hidden temples, chilli-growing courtyards and tiny craft workshops of its narrow lanes and alleyways reveal a city that has not yet abandoned its fascinating traditional cultural identity.
In the morning take an outing to one of the holiest temples for Hindus in the world- Pashupatinath. Your guide will then take you through the spiritual journey with the engrossing explanation about the Hindu religion, the cycle of birth and death and the story behind the Sadhus- Hindu Holy Men, who renounce their hedonistic social life to devote their life to Shiva (Hindu God of Destruction) to whom the temple is dedicated. Witness one of many cremations along the banks of the Bagmati.
Spiritually stimulated, you travel on for around 15 mins to reach the largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal (disputably, in the world). Follow the pilgrims circumambulating the stupa spinning the prayer wheels. Offer your prayers to Lord Buddha lighting a traditional butter lamp at the main entry to the stupa.
Now, to the much celebrated Pokhara, with those panoramas that the guidebooks and postcards rightly find irresistible. Transfer to the airport for a short flight to Pokhara, flying over the humpy Himalayan foothills. The backdrop of stunning Himalayan Peaks, the most picturesque of them being Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and the still waters of Fewa Lake adorn the beauty of this pretty town, also recognized as the adventure sports hub of Nepal and the surrounding hill side of which are the breeding grounds of the famed ‘Gurkha’ soldiers.
Meet with your local guide who will take you on an orientation stroll around the lakeside district, take you on a boat ride, and a short hike to a hilltop vantage point of World Peace Pagoda. Subject to weather conditions, drive to another vantage point of Sarangkot in the next morning for a spectacular view of the first rays of sun illuminating the Annapurna range of Himalayas with an optional hike back to town.
This morning fly from Pokhara back to Kathmandu. After landing enjoy some free time for the rest of the day, perhaps exploring the city’s many handicraft, art and book shops.
On your last day, enjoy free time until your departure flight.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my India and Nepal trip. The guide remembered me from last India trip and had a few beers. I even did the paragliding in Pokhara in Nepal amongst the Himalayan mountains- pretty good in my 70s! The locals are so friendly and amazing culture." — Mr Bouman, Mullumbimby, November 2018
"The trip was fantastic- thanks for your efforts, Bhutan was incredible – we enjoyed the guides and drivers across India, Nepal and Bhutan it was fantastic. It was like another world. Our guide in Bhutan was a very nice chap and very knowledgable. He went out of his way to answer questions about anything and was a source of knowledge about Buddhism and his country. I exchanged emails with Kinley(Kelly)- the guide in Bhutan, so that I could ask further questions about Buddhism as they arise and seek info about the Lama we met at the Tigers Nest. Again, Rose and I thanks you sincerely for your assistance. We will be sure to book again with your company- we will return to India and my Rotary International work will take me to Nepal again next April." — Mr and Mrs Clyne, Goondiwndi, April 2018
"Had a fabulous trip. Thank you again for your wonderful organisational skills when you put together our trip to Nepal. We really did have a ball and unbelievable memories as well as photos! Overall trip – fascinating, fun, awesome, unbelievable colours, dust, heat, steps, people, cars, taxis & motorbikes by the “trillion”, mum, dad and the kids all on one motorbike, sacred cows sitting in the road in fact sitting or standing anywhere and everywhere, stupas, stalls, shops, people, noise, curry, chilli, garlic in all the food, laughter, lots of shopping (the shop till you drop group) and the sense that we had given just a little back when we bought things to take home. However, we are so grateful for all your hard work in putting together an amazing trip. It fell Into place beautifully and you and your company have done a wonderful job. Thank you. " — Sue Armstrong, Warrumbungle NSW, April 2017
