Russia is impossible to summarize. How does one sum up the world's largest country with a history spanning a thousand years? Its geography encompasses almost every imaginable landscape, its architecture runs from iconic fairy-tale palaces to crude Soviet concrete monoliths, and its politics have ranged from tsars to revolution. The culture that gave the world countless writers, musicians, artists, and thinkers is today a work-in-progress, still figuring out its place in a post-Communist world. Travellers will have their work cut out for them here, but the effort yields intense experiences and an adventure of a lifetime.

The best way to experience Russia is to travel on the legendary and very long Trans Siberian Railway adventure. 9,100 kilometres might seem like a long journey but the majority of our travellers are actually surprised how quickly it goes. Spend the days learning some Russian, chatting with your fellow travellers, having some meals in the dining car or taking a chance on finding some babushkas hawking local produce or baked goods on the platforms. Watch the landscape roll by, read up on the upcoming destinations or play cards. The Trans Siberian & Trans Mongolian Railway journeys are simply unforgettable. For sheer distance, intrigue and personal satisfaction no other adventure comes anywhere near it.

"Thank you for organising an excellent trip on Trans Siberian equal to sister brand Chimu Adventures to Antarctica. Our highlight was Ekaterinburg with guide Konstantin and loved the guide, accommodation & activities.Konstantin definitely changed our opinion of Boris Yeltsin. Another stand out guide was Oyu in Mongolia. Thank you for arranging this private trip for 4 of us." — Cory and Chongs, Brisbane and Calgary, September 2019

"Russia is great country with friendly people, full of great tourists attractions and we can recommend everyone to visit. The organisation from your part was perfect, no hick ups at any point. Moscow is amazing, ship cruise fantastic, but St Petersburg is really unbelievable, even Copenhagen part was excellent. All transfers on time, all hotels in perfect positions, all guides very good and no way we can complain about food. Us as part of russian group was big success due to similarities of our languages and culture. Thanks very much, you should be proud of yourself. " — Mr & Mrs Cosic, Melbourne, July 2019

" Russia was interesting, amazing locals and fascinating ballet, opera, shows, and history and great journey on Trans Siberian " — Doug and Sue, Sydney, October 2017

"I’m back after an extraordinary & enjoyable trip on Trans Siberian. I was delighted to find that I was not wrapped in a tourist “cocoon” but was more of a traveller. Its hard to pick a favourite, as a tourist probably the Old Believers Village & Lake Baikal. As a traveller, meeting all sorts of people on the trains where I was the only non-local apart from a lone Japanese on the Trans-Siberian." — Mrs Miller, Glenthompson, April, 2016

"Thanks for your efforts in making a wonderful holiday experience for us. Our guides were excellent and the trains were very comfortable. The accommodation was more than adequate and was excellent value in Russia particularly. The ballet in Ekaterinburg and the opera in St.Petersburg were most enjoyable." — Gae Mulvogue, Sydney, NSW, May 2015
